Bang & Olufsen Unveils BeoSound 8 for iDevices
The BeoSound 8 speaker system docks with iPods and iPhones offers a line-in AUX connector and USB port to accept audio input from the Mac or PC.
Apple fans will be pleased to know that it is one of the few docks on the market that also accommodates the larger size of the iPad.
The docking station, which is available in black or white, can be controlled using the Bang & Olufsen intelligent system remote. This can also be used with Airport Express and AirTunes to stream wirelessly from the computer.
Surface and wall mounting options are available, along with optional colored speaker grills to match your home decor.
The device features sealed speaker cabinets, conical-shaped speaker units, and custom-made digital amplifiers to produce a sonic range from lower bass tones of 38-hertz to higher frequencies of 24,000-hertz.
Zean Nielsen, president of Bang & Olufsen, says: “We believe BeoSound 8 will resonate with many new and existing customers due to its many color options, versatile wall and table mounting solutions, and unrivalled sound quality.
“It sets a new standard for hi-fi sound from a sound dock,” he adds.
The BeoSound 8 will be available in Singapore from December 2, and will gradually roll out across the region in the same month. It is expected to retail for S$2,000 (US$1,551.23), with additional fabric frames offered as optional add-ons.
A free iOS app, BeoPlayer, will be available for download soon that will give users access to 20 Internet radio stations, music browsing (extended feature to be introduced later), as well as an alarm and clock feature. Upgrading to the paid version adds access to more than 10,000 Internet radio channels.
